Shows, Cliff Butler, Jackpot

Graffiti Nights is coming up at the end of May, and is happening in Modesto, CA. Music by some local groups including Frankie and the Fabletones - Frank Fox formely of Vito and the Salutations - that is his group. An appearance by Candy Clark, who was Debbie Dunham from American Graffiti, and lots of other guests and events. It's all centered around the movie. Of course there are the cars, too! Check out the schedule of events.

Speaking of fine shows, Las Vegas is the home to a great concert on July 19th, 2008. Put on by the folks at Doo Wop In The Desert, Kenny Vance and the Planotones is the headliner. The Teenagers, Chiffons, and Al Sanchez with the Storytellers, are also scheduled to appear. For more information on the event, visit doowopinthedesert.com

There are some really great records that are listed as single artists, but actually have groups. In Jeff Kreiter's Vocal group Record Guide,8th edition, he mentions that an attempt was made to try and include them. It's always fun to find and listen to those records. One I found is by Cliff Butler on the Nasco label called Devoted To You, and backed with That's How I Go For You. Not a rare record by any means, but fun to hear the group sound.

I added one more record to my Jackpot label discography. Jackpot # 48018 by Jan August is pure country, and leaves me three records away from completing the label. It was a subsidiary of the Challenge label, and had quite a variety of releases with different types of music.
