Voxpoppers,Fran-Cettes, KVMR/Big John Little

Things have been a little slow over here. The mailman has actually been happy since there have not been so many boxes of records to deliver. Still, I have found a few assorted discs that I couldn't live without.

The Voxpoppers. Everyone has probably heard "Wishing For Your Love". A very nice late 50's ballad indeed. Recently, I acquired the Voxpoppers EP on Mercury and the release on the Versailles label. A nice group that had a short 15 minutes of fame.

Also interesting, is the group called the Fran-Cettes. I have just the one 45 on the Besche lable, though the group recorded several records in their short career. Frances Gray is listed as one of the members, and has writing credits on both sides of this release, with "Cradle Love" being the plug side. An unusual label name to be sure, it came from the combination of names of the producers listed on the record, Scherman and Besman. I do believe it is the same group that backed the Perez Brothers on Offie's and the Wolfie labels.

We had a membership drive last night on KVMR-FM, but next Saturday, back to the usual. I should have the Big John Little interview on the agenda, providing I can get a few of his newer songs to play. What a great talent he is, still. He has come a long way from Rockin Crickets. The following week, I plan to make a few changes to the show, including a new opening theme. It should be fun, and could take a few weeks to get in a slightly different groove.
