Johnny Flamingo, Roy Tan, web site updates

Finding (new to me) records by Johnny Flamingo is getting harder all the time. Just recently added to my Johnny Flamingo page is the 45 shown on the Diadon label, "If You Say Please Go Now". It is one of what I believe are two issues on the label by Flamingo. The other one I have seen documented as Diadon 138 "No More Doggin" and "All Aboard. The later has shown up on a few different CD packages, and the former is certainly on the Johnny Flamingo CD. Anyway, this Diadon 45 shown was issued in late 1961 based on the delta date code in the dead wax. Both sides of the Diadon 45's have songs not released on Johnny Flamingo's LP on the same label. The only other Diadon release I know of is by Ray Park and the Canucks. The label logo is different, but the street address is the same. If you like rock and roll, a decent guitar solo mixed with some animal sounds, you would like the Canucks record.

Interesting comments on my last blog about Roy Tan (Tann). One said it must be a play on the Roi Tan cigar brand. That certainly could be true. The other comment pegs him as Eddie Daniels from the Ebb label. I have yet to see any documentation to that effect, but I am still looking. No hint on the Tan label to where it was from, which makes the puzzle pieces that much harder to put together.

Several new updates to some artist pages have occurred over the last week or so. Most of them have been records I just couldn't find, but really not rare or valuable. For the Rockin Rebels, a stock copy of "Another Wild Weekend" on Swan, and for the Innocents, "Pains In My Heart" on Indigo. Just stubborn records I couldn't find, but knew they were fairly common.

Last night on my radio show, it was back to the normal program, after last week's membership drive. Since yesterday was Valentine's day, I was swamped with dedications. That is just one of the reasons why community radio so much fun.
